21-Day Fast, Day 9
It was about 10 years ago when I watched an interview with Bobby Bowden, the great head football coach of theFlorida State Seminoles. Coach Bowden is one of the greatest college football coaches of all time. His record includes 10 conference titles and 2 National Championships. When the interviewer asked Coach Bowden what he contributed his success to without hesitation Coach Bowden replied, I always put GOD first.
The interviewer asked Coach Bowden to explain what he meant by that. Coach Bowden replied, “I always start my days at 4:00 AM and dedicate at least the first hour of my day to GOD by reading my Bible and with Prayer time. The interviewer said, “You do not mean every day.” Coach Bowden replied, “yes, everyday regardless of what is going on in my life. Regardless of the weekend, regular football practice, game day, or even a National Championship game. I refuse to allow anything interfere with my mornings alone with GOD.”
I remember thinking, man that is Great, and that is when GOD asked me, “If it is so great, why are you not doing it?” That is the question that changed my life. I have done my absolute best from that day to do the exact samething. I see it as that I have a meeting scheduled with GOD every morning at 4:00 AM. When you give GOD the first part of your day, the remainder of your day will always go better.
Is.26:9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; Yes, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early:
Ps. 63:1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsted for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.
Pray:
Heavenly Father, help us to be faithful in seeking you early in our day and to walk obedient to your directions all day long whether it be sunshine or rain. May our love for you never become secondary to anything in our lives.
Amen
